Join Cornelia on the last Friday of each month for a little raucously honest, meditatively revealing painting using techniques you’ve never seen before. Non-dominant hand, simple tools, the highest quality materials- you will astound yourself with what you create!

TRIMMING and CARVING with Cornelia Kietzman

Through demonstrations, clarifying explanations, and multiple opportunities to practice some new techniques, you will learn the importance of timing with wet and dry trimming, sgraffito, mishima and water etching, plus other carving techniques for decoration, and the proper use of metal tools. Bring 3 leather-hard pieces to experiment on, (handbuilt or thrown). Leather-hard tiles for trying out techniques will be provided. GLAZING with Cornelia Kietzman

img_5464Learn everything you wanted to know about overlapping glazes, wax and latex resist, using stamps, stickers and tape, celedon vs. opaque glazes, matte vs. gloss glazes, and more. Bring 3 bisqued pieces to experiment on, or use pots from our unclaimed box to test things out on.

COMING THIS SUMMER: Tile Making with Sherry Peck date TBD

Learn the specific skills required for successful tile making, including carving, pressing, mold-making, adding textures and glazing. Each student will come home with a set of 3 or more completed tiles over the course of 2 weeks.
